Morgan Purnell, a 20-year-old entrepreneur from Surrey, UK, recorded revenues of £142,235 ($191,241) in 2025 from his vintage clothing resale business. Vinted sales accounted for £85,873 ($115,442) of this total, establishing it as the primary platform for his operations.
Purnell's journey into reselling began in July 2024, following a significant rugby injury at 17 that impacted his athletic career. He used approximately £400 ($537) in savings to purchase 50 kilograms of Ralph Lauren trousers for about £200 ($268). Initially, he sold roughly 70 pairs of Ralph Lauren chinos on platforms like Depop and Vinted, promoting his listings through TikTok. Individual items, acquired for around £4 ($5.37) each, were resold for £20 to £30 ($27 to $40) each.
The business experienced a significant uptick around September 2024, leading Purnell to concentrate his sales efforts on Vinted. He documented his progress on TikTok and expanded his operations by hiring two assistants to help with tasks such as ironing and photographing stock. Purnell also decided to defer his plans to study business management and marketing at the University of Bath to focus on his growing enterprise.
His business strategies include sourcing inventory from suppliers in Karachi, Pakistan, and leveraging social media to sell reseller bundles in bulk. Purnell also employs artificial intelligence tools, such as Aistetic for creating product listings from photos and ChatGPT for data organization, to streamline his inventory management and operational processes. Monthly sales figures for the six months leading up to December 2025 varied, ranging from £3,709 ($4,984) in March to £20,403 ($27,418) in December.
According to Business Insider, Purnell's revenue in 2025 also included income from partnerships, such as creating social media content for wholesalers.
