Alleged Militant Commander Killed, Bridge Attack Foiled in Pakistan's Bannu District
An alleged militant commander, identified as Shahid, was killed during an operation in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday night. In separate incidents, two bodies, identified as Ghazi Marjan and Parvez, were recovered from Domel Link Road, reportedly abducted and killed by militants. Additionally, an attempt by militants to destroy the Teri Ram Bridge on Miryan Road with explosives was foiled, though the bridge sustained partial damage and a nearby mosque was affected.
An alleged militant commander was killed in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, local sources reported on Saturday. The Police Peace Committee stated that Shahid, a resident of Wali Noor in Jani Khel and son of Mir Khatam, died near Kangar Bridge during an operation on Friday night. Shahid was reportedly a close associate and facilitator of militant commander Akhtar Muhammad and was allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities.
In a separate incident, authorities recovered two bodies from Domel Link Road. The deceased were identified as Ghazi Marjan and Parvez, both residents of Wanda Sarai Naurang in Lakki Marwat district. Reports suggest the two men had been abducted and subsequently killed by militants. Police have initiated an investigation into this incident.
Militants also attempted to destroy the Teri Ram Bridge located on Miryan Road using explosives. Local sources indicated that the blast resulted in partial damage to the bridge and also impacted a nearby mosque building. No casualties were reported from this incident.
Authorities have launched investigations into all recent incidents and have implemented stricter security measures across the area. Bannu district has experienced a surge in militant violence and repeated security incidents in recent months, with both civilians and local security forces facing attacks.
