The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) and America250 have revealed the five artists selected for their "Voices of Tomorrow" initiative. These creators were chosen from a national applicant pool for forging their own paths, building communities through their work, and demonstrating a commitment to authentic self-expression. The selected artists represent diverse genres, including Country, R&B, hip-hop, and funk.
Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, Co-Founder, President & CEO of BMAC, stated that as America approaches its 250th anniversary, there is a responsibility to consider who will define the future. Stiggers described the artists as "storytellers, culture makers, and architects of the future," whose voices reflect the richness, diversity, and evolution of Black music in America. He emphasized BMAC's investment in creators who highlight music's role as a force for connection, truth, and progress.
Ahead of a Juneteenth celebration, the artists will travel to New York for a week of mentorship, networking opportunities, and cultural programming designed to advance their careers.
Among the selected artists is New Orleans native Dani Wright, whose career spans multiple creative disciplines. Starting as a church singer, Wright gained recognition as a songwriter and recording artist, collaborating with various writers and producers. Her creative work expanded into television and film, where she develops projects focused on storytelling.
Los Angeles artist DJ Stussy, a drummer since childhood, later taught himself piano and production. A Miles College choir scholarship recipient, his work often features themes from his experiences as an educator and artist, connecting with audiences through a blend of humor, perspective, and lived experience. While viral online moments have broadened his audience, community impact remains central to his artistry.
Jastin Martin, a singer-songwriter, producer, and guitarist from Houston, has built a devoted following through emotionally transparent songwriting and a hands-on creative process. Recently named a Billboard Artist to Watch, Martin writes, produces, and contributes to nearly every aspect of her releases, creating intimate and personal music.
Atlanta's RAHBI is known for his genre-blending approach to funk and soul. He founded STRANGE, a live music series in Atlanta that celebrates individuality and artistic freedom. His work as a music director across theater, television, and performance spaces demonstrates his commitment to both his own craft and building platforms for other artists.
Rounding out the cohort is The Reasn, a Columbia, Missouri-born singer-songwriter whose soulful vocals and cinematic R&B style have led to touring opportunities. (Source: Billboard)
