Cape Verde national team goalkeeper Vozinha has disclosed his support for both Arsenal and Barcelona, following his team's 0-0 draw against Spain in the 2026 World Cup. The 40-year-old athlete achieved a clean sheet against the European champions. Vozinha expressed that facing players from his favorite clubs made the challenging match a particularly special experience.
Cape Verde's 40-year-old goalkeeper Vozinha has publicly stated he is a fan of both English club Arsenal and Spanish club Barcelona. This revelation came after he helped his national team secure a 0-0 draw against Spain in the 2026 World Cup, where he successfully maintained a clean sheet.
The match, described by Vozinha as "very hard, very difficult," saw Cape Verde hold one of the tournament favorites to a goalless draw. The goalkeeper mentioned that despite the intensity of the game, playing against players from clubs he supports added a unique dimension to the experience.
Vozinha noted that David Raya, a goalkeeper for Arsenal, was on the bench for Spain, and Rodri from Manchester City, one of the world's top teams, played. He emphasized the importance of his team giving their best due to the high quality of their opponents.
While he did not get to face Raya on the pitch, Mikel Merino was the only Arsenal international to feature for Spain, coming on as a substitute. Vozinha did, however, play against several Barcelona players during the match, including Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Ferran Torres, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, and Dani Olmo.
