Two individuals suspected of involvement in recent robberies and a fatal shootout were killed in an encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Chakwal. These events unfolded as an official from the CCD was also taken into custody on charges of murder.
The arrest stems from an incident where CCD personnel reportedly opened fire on a vehicle carrying Adeel Ahmed, 39, his wife Dr. Sidra Khan, their 9-year-old daughter Hania Ahmed, and 10-year-old son Aafan Ahmed. Police allegedly mistook their vehicle for that of robbers. As a result of the firing, Hania Ahmed died at the scene, while Adeel Ahmed and Aafan Ahmed sustained critical injuries. Dr. Khan was unharmed. The First Information Report (FIR) related to this incident was subsequently amended to include Section 302, leading to the arrest of the CCD official.
Separately, the two alleged robbers, identified as Mohammad Abbas from Shahdara and Mohammad Feyaz from Ferozwala, were killed in an encounter with the CCD. These individuals were reportedly involved in a series of robberies that occurred on Wednesday night, including a shootout with CCD personnel while allegedly targeting an Australian national family.
A senior CCD official stated that both Abbas and Feyaz had been implicated in over a dozen cases across different areas of Punjab, with previous arrests and indictments. Mohammad Abbas was also linked to two robberies in Chakwal in 2021. The official further claimed their involvement in shooting a CCD cop in Gujranwala on June 3, snatching a motorbike in Sheikhupura on June 6, and looting a vendor in Khewra before arriving in Chakwal. The robbers reportedly stayed in a mosque near Sutwal village in Chakwal.
According to the official, Abbas often wore women's clothes, acting as the wife of his accomplice Feyaz. This disguise was reportedly used to mark targets during the day for night-time robberies.
According to Dawn Pakistan, these events were reported on Saturday.
