China's NPC to Discuss Hong Kong's Jurisdiction Over Shenzhen Port
China's top legislative body, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), is scheduled to discuss a bill next week concerning Hong Kong’s jurisdiction over a section of the redeveloped Huanggang Port in Shenzhen. This arrangement will facilitate a "co-location" system at the port, which is anticipated to open next month. The discussions are set to take place from June 23 to 26 in Beijing.

The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) is preparing to convene next week to deliberate on a significant legislative proposal. The bill aims to grant Hong Kong jurisdiction over a designated portion of the redeveloped Huanggang Port, located in Shenzhen.
This proposed authorization is a key step towards implementing a "co-location" arrangement at the upgraded port facility. This system is designed to streamline operations and facilitate cross-border movement between Hong Kong and mainland China.
Meetings of the NPC Standing Committee are slated to occur between June 23 and 26 in Beijing. The announcement of these discussions was made on Tuesday, following a session chaired by NPC Chairman Zhao Leji at the Great Hall of the People in the capital on the same day.
The redeveloped Huanggang Port is expected to commence operations next month, integrating the new co-location scheme once the necessary legislative frameworks are in place.
According to the South China Morning Post, the discussions mark a crucial development in cross-border infrastructure management.
