A woman in eastern China, Liu Xiuhong, has been reunited with her birth family 22 years after she ran away as a child. At nine years old, she left home in 2004, fearing punishment after accidentally breaking a shower gel bottle while playing at a friend's house. Her family, originally from Ganzhou, Jiangxi province, had moved to Jieyang, Guangdong province, where her parents worked as migrant laborers and lived in a small rented room.

Liu Xiuhong, a woman from eastern China, has reconnected with her birth family after a separation of 22 years.
She was nine years old in 2004 when she ran away from home in Jieyang, Guangdong province. Liu, whose family was from a rural area in Ganzhou, Jiangxi province, had moved with her migrant-worker parents to Jieyang, where they resided in a cramped rented room.
The decision to leave stemmed from an incident where she accidentally broke a glass bottle of shower gel while playing at a friend's home. Fearing punishment for the broken item, she fled.
After more than two decades, Liu Xiuhong has now been reunited with her family.
According to the South China Morning Post, this information was reported by the mainland outlet Shicheng Media.
