EcoFlow Power Hat Offers Wearable Solar Charging for Small Devices

The EcoFlow Power Hat is a portable accessory designed to charge small electronic devices using solar energy. It incorporates eight mini solar panels on its brim, enabling users to generate power for their gadgets while engaging in outdoor activities.

The hat features a trucker-style design, with a structured front panel and a mesh back intended for breathability. It is equipped with both one USB-C and one USB-A port for connecting devices. An adjustable chin strap is also included, which can be attached for additional security. The brim, which houses the solar panels, is described as stiff and provides 360-degree coverage for sun protection. The medium/large size of the hat weighs approximately 0.8 pounds (13 ounces).

During testing under direct Georgia summer sun, the EcoFlow Power Hat recharged a Google Pixel 8 from 83 percent to 93 percent in 30 minutes. This performance suggests an approximate charging rate of 20 percent per hour, or about five hours to fully charge a smartphone from empty. While EcoFlow specifies a rated power output of up to 12W, observations during testing showed a maximum power input of 7W, typically operating around 6W. The solar panels on the brim were noted to become hot to the touch when exposed to full sunlight.

The EcoFlow Power Hat is available for $129. It comes in two size options: M/L, suitable for head circumferences of 22 to 22.8 inches, and L/XL, designed for 23.2 to 24 inches.
