Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento faces significant uncertainty regarding his participation in England's World Cup campaign. The full-back is understood to have sustained an injury during a training session on Sunday.
This recent development adds to previous fitness concerns for Livramento, who had been sidelined for the final five weeks of the season due to a thigh injury.
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is reportedly poised to join the squad as a replacement should Livramento be officially ruled out. Tournament regulations permit the replacement of outfield players who suffer a serious injury or illness up to 24 hours before a team's opening match.
If selected, Chalobah, 26, is expected to link up with the England squad after their initial fixture against Croatia. England is scheduled to commence their World Cup bid on Wednesday against Croatia.
Chalobah has not featured for England since playing the full 90 minutes in a friendly against Senegal. He was, however, named on the bench for several World Cup qualifiers.
According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, Chalobah will not join the squad until after the Croatia match.
