European Parliament Approves Tariff Reductions on US Imports
The European Parliament on Tuesday approved the reduction of duties on various US goods imports. This decision aims to fulfill the European Union's commitments within a trade deal established last year and to prevent further tariff disputes with the United States. The framework agreement was initiated by then-US President Donald Trump in July last year, where the EU consented to eliminate import duties on US industrial goods.

The European Parliament on Tuesday approved a measure to cut duties on numerous US goods imports. This action is intended to fulfill the European Union's obligations under a trade agreement established last year. The primary goal of this decision is to avert a new round of tariff conflicts between the EU and the United States, which are considered the world's largest trading partners.
A framework trade deal was struck in July last year by then-US President Donald Trump with the European Union. This agreement was reached at his Turnberry golf course in Scotland.
Under the terms of this framework deal, the European Union had agreed to remove import duties on US industrial goods.
According to South China Morning Post, this move by the European Parliament underscores efforts to manage trade relations and prevent potential escalations.
