Fulham Reportedly in Talks with Alvaro Arbeloa for Managerial Role
Fulham is reportedly in discussions to appoint Alvaro Arbeloa as a potential replacement for outgoing manager Marco Silva. Silva has departed Craven Cottage after five years to join Portuguese club Benfica. Arbeloa, 43, previously served as an interim manager for Real Madrid at the end of last season.
Fulham Football Club is reportedly in talks to appoint Alvaro Arbeloa as their new manager. This follows the departure of Marco Silva, who has left Craven Cottage after five years to take charge of Portuguese giants Benfica.
Alvaro Arbeloa, aged 43, managed 28 of Real Madrid's matches last season on an interim basis. He had previously worked his way up through Madrid's youth teams, holding coaching positions throughout his entire coaching career at the club. Sources close to Fulham have indicated that while talks are underway, they are not considered advanced at this stage.
As a player, Arbeloa had two spells at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu. He also played in the Premier League for both Liverpool and West Ham.
Fulham had also held discussions with Kieran McKenna, but it would have cost £8 million to release him from his contract at Ipswich Town. McKenna has since departed Ipswich, stating a desire to take a break and spend time with his family.
Fulham finished the last Premier League season in 11th position.
According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, these developments highlight Fulham's ongoing search for a new manager.
