Iran Reaffirms Uranium Enrichment Rights Amid Proposed US Talks and Nuclear Material Dispute
Iran has reiterated its right to enrich uranium as discussions potentially open for a 60-day period between Tehran and Washington. This comes as reports indicate US ally Israel claims President Trump promised any peace deal would involve Iran being stripped of its enriched nuclear material, a condition Iran's official news agency, IRNA, denies is under consideration.
Iran has reportedly reaffirmed its right to enrich uranium amidst suggestions of upcoming diplomatic engagements. The United States and Iran are expected to participate in 60 days of talks, according to reports. This development occurs as US President Donald Trump has teased the possibility of a peace deal.
A point of contention has emerged regarding the future of Iran's nuclear material. Israel, a key US ally, has indicated that President Trump had assured it any potential agreement would require Iran to be divested of its enriched nuclear material.
However, Iran's official IRNA news agency has countered this assertion. IRNA stated that the condition of stripping Iran of its enriched nuclear material was not part of any discussions or "not even on the table."
