Earlier in the day, a post on the university-based Facebook group ‘Jabir Sokol Songbad’ reported the discovery of a body in the Buriganga River with a Jahangirnagar University ID card found nearby. This led to inquiries with the Dhaka River Police.
Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of the River Police, stated that the body was recovered from beneath a bridge. He noted that preliminary observations suggested the body had been in the water for two to three days and was partially decomposed. The body has since been sent to Mitford Hospital in Dhaka for a post-mortem examination, with further details expected upon completion of the examination.
