Liverpool Targets £43M Khephren Thuram Amid Curtis Jones Exit Speculation

Liverpool is reportedly assessing its midfield options and may need to spend approximately £43 million (€50 million) to secure a new central midfielder.

The potential transfer activity is linked to the situation surrounding Curtis Jones, who is reportedly questioning his future at the club. According to the original report, Jones experienced a lack of trust and playing time under Arne Slot, often being deployed out of position at right-back.

Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram has emerged as a primary target. A report from Tutto Juve suggests that Liverpool plans to replace Jones, and Thuram's valuation is estimated to be around €45-50 million. While Thuram is said to prefer staying at Juventus, the club may consider his sale to fund other transfer activities.

Thuram, a 25-year-old midfielder, has been a significant player for Juventus, appearing in 45 games across all competitions last season and contributing to nine goals. He has been utilized as both a number six and a number eight by Luciano Spalletti. Statistical data from Fotmob indicates he maintained an 86.8% pass accuracy per 90 minutes, was dribbled past 0.51 times per 90 minutes, and won 53.9% of his ground duels.

Other clubs, including Galatasaray and Manchester United, have also reportedly inquired about Thuram. Manchester United, having completed a deal for Ederson from Atalanta, is also monitoring Thuram alongside Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes for the same position.

According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, Liverpool's midfield, despite being described as "stacked," is believed to be in need of a major revamp, with concerns also raised about the performances of players like Ryan Gravenberch.
