Marvel Rivals Launches with Extensive Roster of Superheroes and Supervillains
NetEase has released its free-to-play, team-based competitive shooter, Marvel Rivals, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game features a diverse cast of dozens of playable characters, encompassing both superheroes and supervillains from iconic Marvel teams such as the Avengers, X-Men, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Players engage in 6v6 battles across destructible environments, stemming from a narrative where Doctor Doom and his 2099 counterpart cause a 'Timestream Entanglement.'

Marvel Rivals, a new free-to-play team-based competitive shooter, is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by NetEase, the game allows players to select from a broad spectrum of Marvel Comics' superheroes and supervillains.
The game's premise involves Doctor Doom and his 2099 incarnation manipulating time, leading to an anomaly called the Timestream Entanglement. This event sets the stage for 6v6 battles between heroes and villains in destructible environments.
The initial roster includes characters from various Marvel franchises, offering a mix of abilities and playstyles. Notable playable characters range from fan favorites like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Hulk to Black Panther, Loki, Storm, Namor, and Doctor Strange. Other characters such as Magik, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Mantis, Peni Parker, Luna Snow, Scarlet Witch, Magneto, The Punisher, Hela, Venom, Adam Warlock, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Thor, Jeff the Land Shark, Psylocke, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, Wolverine, Iron Fist, Squirrel Girl, Black Widow, Cloak and Dagger, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, The Thing, Ultron, Emma Frost, Phoenix, Blade, Angela, Daredevil, Gambit, Rogue, Deadpool, Elsa Bloodstone, White Fox, Devil Dinosaur, and Cyclops are also part of the lineup.
Characters are categorized into roles such as Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist, and some feature unique team-up mechanics, like Hulk channeling gamma radiation into Iron Man, or Groot and Rocket Raccoon combining for devastating effects. Upcoming additions include Black Cat, set to join in the Season 7.5 update, and Blade, who was teased for the upcoming 'The Abyss Awakens' season.
According to GameSpot, details on character abilities indicate a range of combat styles, from Iron Man's Repulsor rays and missiles to Spider-Man's web-shooters for trapping opponents, and Loki's mystical doppelgangers and shapeshifting. Hulk can transform from Bruce Banner for a health boost and ground-and-pound attacks, while Magneto can generate magnetic shields.
