Meta AI Mode Leverages Public Posts for Facebook Search Results
Meta has introduced an AI Mode for search on Facebook, utilizing public posts from its social platforms to generate responses. This feature, powered by the Muse Spark model launched in April, is the first AI model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, designed for various personal uses. Meta plans to extend its data sources to include public content from Instagram and Threads, with the Muse Spark model currently available on meta.ai and the Meta AI app.
Meta has rolled out an AI Mode for its search functionality on Facebook, which generates results by drawing from publicly shared posts across its social media platforms. This new search option appears alongside existing standard search filters.
The implementation is part of the broader deployment of Meta's Muse Spark model, which was introduced in April. Muse Spark is the first artificial intelligence model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. It was designed to assist with everyday personal use cases, encompassing areas such as health, shopping, visual understanding, and social content.
Meta has indicated that the Muse Spark model will eventually incorporate recommendations from its entire suite of social applications, including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. This approach allows users to ask follow-up questions based on the AI-generated results.
The company states that this feature relies solely on content that users have already chosen to share publicly. Muse Spark is currently accessible via meta.ai and through the Meta AI app. Additionally, Meta is developing a more advanced reasoning mode called Contemplating, though its release date has not yet been confirmed.
According to Mashable Tech, Meta's AI Mode and Muse Spark model represent a significant step in integrating AI-powered search across its platforms.
