Microsoft Unveils New Surface Laptop 8 and Surface Pro 12 with Snapdragon X2 Chips
Microsoft has announced the launch of its new Surface Laptops and a Surface Pro, both equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 processors. These devices are direct successors to the 2024 models, which featured Snapdragon X1 chips and were part of Microsoft's Copilot Plus PC initiative with Windows on Arm. The new X2-powered Surface devices are now available for purchase, offering updated performance for users.
Microsoft is rolling out new iterations of its Surface Laptop and Surface Pro lines, integrating Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 processors. These new devices directly follow the Surface Laptops and Surface Pro models released in 2024, which were instrumental in initiating Microsoft's Copilot Plus PC program using Windows on Arm architecture.
The latest X2-equipped Surface products are currently available. The Surface Pro 12th Edition, a convertible tablet, is offered in a 13-inch display size. It provides configuration options with either a 10-core X2 Plus chip or a 12-core X2 Elite chip.
Similarly, the Surface Laptop 8th Edition is introduced in two screen sizes: 13.8 inches and 15 inches. Both sizes of the laptop are available with the same X2 Plus and X2 Elite processor configurations as the Surface Pro. The Surface Pro model has a starting price of $1,499 and includes 256GB of internal storage.
According to The Verge, these launches represent an advancement in Microsoft's ARM-based computing strategy.
