MQM-P Delegation Meets PM Shehbaz, Seeks Funds for Karachi and Hyderabad Projects
A delegation from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday. Discussions focused on the upcoming FY2026-27 budget and development initiatives for Sindh's urban areas. The MQM-P sought an allocation of Rs20 billion for projects in Karachi and Rs5 billion for Hyderabad. Prime Minister Sharif reportedly assured the delegation of sufficient budgetary allocations for both cities and pledged the necessary funds for the K-IV project, aiming for its completion by December 2026.
A delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday. The discussions primarily centered on the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 and various development projects slated for Sindh.
During the meeting, the MQM-P leadership highlighted the need for a special development package targeting Sindh’s urban areas. MQM-P leader Aminul Haque stated that his party specifically requested an allocation of Rs20 billion for projects within Karachi and an additional Rs5 billion for initiatives in Hyderabad as part of the upcoming budget.
Prime Minister Sharif reportedly assured the delegation that substantial allocations had been made in the budget for both Karachi and Hyderabad. He also promised the release of necessary funds for the Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme, commonly known as the K-IV project.
According to Haque, the Prime Minister indicated that the government is actively working to ensure the completion of the K-IV project by December 2026.
