NASA Invites Digital Creators to Experience Roman Space Telescope Launch
NASA is inviting digital creators and social media users to register for a unique two-day event to experience the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. Scheduled for August 30, 2026, the mission aims to explore distant worlds, dark energy, and the cosmos from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Up to 50 selected participants will receive access similar to news media, including tours and expert discussions.
NASA's next flagship astrophysics mission, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, is set to launch on August 30, 2026. The telescope, known as Roman, will embark on a mission to reveal distant worlds, study dark energy, and explore the structure of the cosmos, ranging from our outer solar system to the edge of the observable universe.
The launch will take place aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Digital creators and social media users are invited to register for a special two-day NASA Social event associated with the launch. A maximum of 50 individuals will be selected to attend, gaining access comparable to news media. Participants will have the opportunity to tour NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, engage with astrophysics subject matter experts, connect with fellow digital creators, meet members of NASA's social media team, and witness the telescope's launch.
Eligibility requirements for the NASA Social event include active use of multiple social networking platforms, regular production of new multimedia content, a potential to reach a large and unique audience, and an established history of visible and respected postings. Current or former NASA civil servants, contractors, interns, or individuals/organizations under contract to NASA are not eligible to apply.
Registration for the event opens on Monday, June 15, and closes at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sunday, June 28. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and non-U.S. citizens are welcome to apply.
