Paul Pogba Targets France National Team Return After Monaco Stint

Paul Pogba, 33, has voiced his ambition to return to the France national team, considering it "the biggest bonus of all." His two-year contract with AS Monaco, signed last summer, marked his first professional engagement following a doping ban. This move was partly motivated by a desire to reintegrate into the French national setup.

Pogba's return to competitive football at Monaco has seen him accumulate limited playing time, with six appearances, one start, and a total of 115 minutes. These performances were not sufficient to secure a call-up to the national squad.

In an interview with L'Équipe, Pogba clarified his initial objective at Monaco. He stated that his focus was on returning to competition and achieving physical fitness, rather than immediately targeting a World Cup appearance. He emphasized that strong club performances are crucial for a chance to play for France.

When asked about what he lacks to earn a spot in Didier Deschamps' World Cup squad, Pogba identified "rhythm" as the key factor, attributing it to past "little niggles" and his suspension. He affirmed that wearing the national jersey remains a dream, one that must be deserved through consistent performance.
