Port Vale has completed the signing of defender Jasper Moon on a free transfer, with the player targeting promotion for the League Two club.
Moon, 25, was released by Burton Albion last month after a three-season tenure with the Brewers. During his time there, he scored his first goal for the club in a draw against Exeter City, which helped ensure their League One status. Moon's career has primarily been at Championship or League One levels, having also come through the academies of Barnsley and Leicester City.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Moon stated he was "buzzing to get it done" upon hearing of Port Vale's interest. He cited his previous experiences with assistant coach Gary Mills at Burton and head of physical performance James Walsh at Barnsley as influences on his decision. "Promotion is what we want to look for - I know that's what the manager is looking for," Moon added, acknowledging the club's stature.
Vale boss Jon Brady commented on Moon's arrival, noting it reflects his ambition to cultivate a "competitive" squad, especially following their third-bottom finish in League One last season. Brady described Moon as "a strong defender, an excellent professional and, just as importantly, a character who will help drive standards on and off the pitch." He further stated that Moon "fits that profile perfectly," seeking committed, ambitious players willing to challenge themselves and others daily.
