During the call, President Trump shared words of encouragement with the players. He reportedly told them, "We're all rooting for you. The pressure is gone. Have some fun."
Despite the phone call, President Trump will not attend the match at SoFi Stadium. The team later posted a clip of the call on social media, which included Trump referring to coach Mauricio Pochettino as a "fantastic guy."
According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, the U.S. team's opening match is scheduled for Friday.
