Report Suggests Unannounced Features for Apple's iOS 27 Update
Apple's upcoming iOS 27 update, expected this fall, may include several significant features not yet announced at WWDC. According to a report, these could include a simplified Modular Ultra watch face for non-Ultra Apple Watch models, a customizable Camera app interface with widgets, and additional third-party chatbots for Siri beyond ChatGPT. These potential features are not present in the current developer betas for iOS 27 and watchOS 27, but are anticipated to launch with new Apple devices in September.
Despite the conclusion of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and the release of the first iOS 27 developer beta, a new report suggests that the mobile platform may introduce several major features that have not yet been officially unveiled.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman indicates that one of these potential additions is a simplified version of the Modular Ultra watch face, currently exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra. This simplified variant is expected to offer one fewer row of customizable complications compared to its Ultra counterpart, making it available for other Apple Watch models.
Another unannounced feature rumored to be included is a customizable Camera app. While the current Camera app already features a new Siri mode, Gurman previously reported that Apple intends to provide options for customizing the interface with widgets.
Additionally, the report claims that Apple might expand third-party chatbot integration with Siri. Although only ChatGPT is present in the iOS 27 developer beta, Gurman suggests that other models, such as Gemini and Claude, could make an appearance when the full update rolls out.
These features are reportedly not yet available in the latest developer betas for iOS 27 and watchOS 27. However, Gurman expresses confidence that Apple plans to incorporate them upon the launch of new iPhones and Apple Watch devices, likely scheduled for September.
