Resident Evil: Veronica Confirmed as Third-Person Game, Set for 2027 Release
Capcom has confirmed that the upcoming Resident Evil: Veronica will feature a third-person perspective, mirroring the gameplay style of the Resident Evil 2 remake. This detail was revealed during a group Q&A session at Summer Game Fest, where the game was officially announced. The title, launching in 2027, will place players in the role of Claire Redfield, with a significant emphasis on resource management. The game is slated for release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC. Although the original Resident Evil: Code Veronica was not a numbered mainline entry, the new iteration is being treated closer to one, with its single-word subtitle designed to evoke recent franchise titles.

Capcom has officially announced that the upcoming title, Resident Evil: Veronica, will be played from a third-person perspective. This information was shared with GameSpot during a group Q&A session at Summer Game Fest, an event where the game's public announcement also took place.
The original 2000 release, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, also utilized a third-person view, similar to many older Resident Evil titles. However, it featured the "tank" controls characteristic of the PlayStation originals. For Resident Evil: Veronica, the gameplay experience is expected to be more akin to the Resident Evil 2 remake.
Players will take on the role of Claire Redfield. As the story is set only a few months after the events of Resident Evil 2, Claire is portrayed as not yet being a combat expert. This narrative choice will lead to a strong focus on resource management, a classic element within the Resident Evil franchise.
While the original Code Veronica was not considered a numbered mainline entry, Resident Evil: Veronica is being positioned closer to one in terms of its significance within the series. The single-word subtitle was chosen to align with recent Resident Evil games such as Requiem and Village. The original Code Veronica is also known for advancing much of the franchise's main storyline.
Resident Evil: Veronica is scheduled for release in 2027 and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC. (Source: GameSpot)
