A Bola and Corriere dello Sport previously reported that Milan had offered Amorim a two-year contract valued at over €3 million per season. Multiple sources, including The Athletic, suggest that the 41-year-old is now the primary candidate for the Rossoneri job.

Milan has been searching for a new coach after sacking Massimiliano Allegri at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, a season in which the club failed to qualify for the Champions League. The Diavoli reportedly held discussions with Oliver Glasner and Mauricio Pochettino as part of their search.
Amorim previously managed Manchester United, where he was sacked in January 2026 after 14 months in charge. Milan is also in the process of seeking a new CEO, technical director, and sporting director following Ralf Rangnick's decision to extend his contract as the Austria national team coach.
