Shanghai Man Loses Weight After Buying Online Products to Gain It
A man in Shanghai, identified by his surname Liu, reportedly lost 6.5 kilograms after spending 10,000 yuan (US$1,500) on online health products he believed would help him gain weight. Liu, a truck driver who is 1.78 meters tall and weighed 53 kilograms, felt he was too thin and sought to increase his mass. His unexpected experience, which resulted in weight loss over one month, subsequently gained significant attention on mainland social media.

A Shanghai truck driver, surnamed Liu, experienced an unexpected outcome after purchasing online health products with the intention of gaining weight. Liu, who is 1.78 meters tall and weighed 53 kilograms, perceived himself as too thin and desired to increase his body mass.
In March, Liu spent 10,000 yuan (approximately US$1,500) on various online products. He was reportedly influenced by a social media account belonging to an individual surnamed Chen, who shared information about assisting people with weight gain.
However, contrary to his goal, Liu lost 6.5 kilograms within one month of using the products. His experience was subsequently reported by the Shanghai Morning Post and later trended across mainland social media platforms.
