IDW Publishing has announced a new comic book limited series titled "Tales of the TMNT: Coastal Chaos." This series aims to expand the "Mutant Mayhem" universe, serving as a continuation following the conclusion of the animated "Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series after two seasons.
The new series brings the Heroes in a Half-Shell to the Jersey Shore for what begins as a family vacation. Their leisure is interrupted by the appearance of the monstrous Armaggon, a new villain for this animated universe.
Andrew Joustra, who also scripted the animated short film "TMNT: Chrome Alone 2 - Lost in New Jersey" and works as a script supervisor on the "Mutant Mayhem" films, is writing "Tales of the TMNT: Coastal Chaos." Louie Joyce is the illustrator for the series.
The first issue will feature multiple covers by artists including Joyce, Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez, Pizza Mert, and Chalky Wong.
"Tales of the TMNT: Coastal Chaos #1" is set to be released on September 9, with a final order cutoff date of August 3.
According to IGN, the previous volume of "Tales of the TMNT" comics and the animated series aimed to maintain key elements of the "Mutant Mayhem" style while exploring the individual Turtles' psyches.
