Taylor Swift has achieved a new milestone on Billboard's Country Airplay chart with her latest single, "I Knew It, I Knew You." The track entered the June 20-dated chart at No. 8, garnering 19.4 million audience impressions in the week ending June 11, after its release on June 5.
This debut is historic, making "I Knew It, I Knew You" the first song by a woman to debut in the Country Airplay chart's top 10 since the chart began in January 1990. The only other title to achieve a top 10 debut was Garth Brooks’ “More Than a Memory,” which premiered at No. 1 in September 2007.
"I Knew It, I Knew You," a harmonica-laden song about friendship from Toy Story 5, is Swift's 19th Country Airplay top 10 entry. Her last appearance in the top 10 on this chart was in December 2013, when "Red" reached No. 7. Throughout her career, which started on this chart with "Tim McGraw" in December 2006, Swift has accumulated seven No. 1 hits.
This single also marks Swift's 40th entry on the Country Airplay chart and her first since her collaboration with Chris Stapleton, “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),” which peaked at No. 23 in November 2021.
Swift commented on the song's creation on June 1 via Instagram, stating that "Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time." She also noted that "Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once." (Source: Billboard)
