Tino Livramento's World Cup Bid in Doubt After Injury
England defender Tino Livramento faces significant uncertainty regarding his participation in England's World Cup campaign after sustaining a new injury during a training session on Sunday. The Newcastle United player, 23, is reportedly feared to be out of action for up to four weeks, occurring just days before England's tournament opener against Croatia. Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is anticipated to be named as his replacement should Livramento be officially ruled out of the tournament.
England's World Cup preparations have encountered a potential setback as defender Tino Livramento, 23, is a major doubt for the upcoming tournament. The Newcastle United player sustained an injury during a training session on Sunday, ahead of the Three Lions' World Cup opener against Croatia, scheduled for Wednesday night at 21:00 BST.
While the Football Association has not commented on the extent of Livramento's injury, reports indicate concerns that he could be sidelined for up to four weeks. His involvement in the tournament was already uncertain, as he had previously missed the final five weeks of the season due to a thigh injury.
Should Livramento be officially ruled out of the World Cup, Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is expected to be called up as his replacement. Chalobah would join the squad following the Croatia match. World Cup regulations permit the replacement of outfield players who suffer a serious injury or illness up to 24 hours before a team's first match of the tournament.
Livramento has earned six England caps. Concerns also surround the fitness of Reece James, a 26-year-old Chelsea right-back, who has faced an injury-plagued season, missing nine games due to a hamstring injury. Other defensive options already within the England squad include Djed Spence and Ezri Konsa. Spence has featured six times, while Konsa, primarily a centre-back, has made 11 appearances, including nine starts.
Chalobah, 26, whose preferred position is centre-back, has previously featured for England in a friendly match, playing a full 90 minutes, and was included on the bench for multiple World Cup qualifiers. (Source: Yahoo Sports Soccer)
