Tunisia Sacks Coach Sabri Lamouchi After World Cup Opening Defeat
Tunisia's national football team has dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi following a 5-1 defeat by Sweden in their opening World Cup game on Monday. The decision was announced by the Tunisian Football Federation on its Instagram account. This managerial change comes after the team's first match in Mexico, with Tunisia still scheduled to play Japan and the Netherlands in Group F. Mondher Kebaier is reportedly set to take over as the national team's interim coach.

Tunisia's national football team announced on Monday the dismissal of its head coach, Sabri Lamouchi, after the squad suffered a significant 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their first World Cup 2026 match.
The Tunisian Football Federation confirmed Lamouchi's departure via a statement posted on its official Instagram account. The statement indicated that an agreement had been formally reached for the coach's dismissal.
The opening game, which resulted in the heavy loss, was held in Mexico. Despite the change in leadership, Tunisia remains in Group F and is still scheduled to compete against Japan and the Netherlands in upcoming fixtures.
Looking ahead, plans are reportedly underway to appoint Mondher Kebaier as the national team's coach on an interim basis.
