UK Government Plans Social Media Ban for Children Under 16
The UK government is advancing plans to implement a social media ban for children under the age of 16, an initiative announced by Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Should the legislation pass through parliament, the ban is slated to take effect by spring 2027. Designated platforms subject to the ban include Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X, while messaging services WhatsApp and Signal are exempt.

Conversely, certain communication applications, namely WhatsApp and Signal, will not be included in the proposed restrictions.
According to Variety, Prime Minister Starmer confirmed the government's intention to move forward with this policy.
