US and Iran Disagree on Hormuz Strait Fees Under Peace Deal
US officials stated on Monday that ships would transit the Strait of Hormuz toll-free under an Iran peace deal signed by President Donald Trump, emphasizing that Tehran must fulfill its commitments for economic benefits. However, Iran's foreign ministry offered a conflicting view on the same day, asserting that the deal allows for the charging of 'maritime service fees' on ships using the strait, distinguishing these from 'tolls.'

US officials announced on Monday that vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz would do so toll-free as part of an Iran peace deal. This agreement was reportedly signed by President Donald Trump. US representatives also emphasized that Iran must fulfill its commitments outlined in the deal before it can receive any economic benefits.
Conversely, Iran's foreign ministry issued a statement on the same day, presenting a different interpretation of the accord. The ministry asserted that the agreement permits Tehran to impose "maritime service fees" on ships navigating through the Strait of Hormuz. They clarified that these charges are specifically "maritime service fees" rather than "tolls."
