Former Swansea City, Wrexham, and Bristol City forward Lee Trundle, 49, has completed a move to Cwmbran Town, a team in the third tier of Welsh domestic football, the Ardal South East League.
Trundle, who will turn 50 in October, enjoyed a significant career in the English Football League before transitioning to grassroots football more than a decade ago, following his departure from Preston North End in 2013.
He currently holds a club ambassador role for Championship side Swansea City. Trundle expressed his delight at joining Cwmbran Town, highlighting the club's history, passionate community, and future ambitions. He stated his goal to assist players, particularly the younger generation, and help the club progress.
Cwmbran Town finished second in the Ardal South East League last season. Club chairman Dan O'Connell emphasized Trundle's significance beyond his playing ability, calling him a role model and an ambassador for the sport. O'Connell believes Trundle will have a substantial impact on the club's young players, supporters, and the broader organization.
First-team boss Brandon Simpson added that Trundle brings extensive experience, quality, and a proven track record, which will be a considerable asset to the squad and the club. Liverpool-born Trundle has played for several grassroots clubs since 2013, including Pure Swansea, Trefelin BGC, Mumbles Rangers, Ammanford, Haverfordwest County, Llanelli Town, Marine, and Chester.
According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, Trundle won five trophies during his time with Swansea City and Wrexham.
