Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 Editions Open for Preorder, Feature Enhancements
The Nintendo Switch 2 Editions for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are now available for preorder following their announcement during a recent Nintendo Direct. These updated versions are priced at $70 for standalone digital and physical editions, while existing Nintendo Switch owners can upgrade for $10 per title. The new editions feature visual and performance enhancements, including 60 frames per second gameplay and support for 4K resolution in docked mode, or 1080p in handheld mode.

Preorders have opened for the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. These enhanced versions were initially announced during a Nintendo Direct event in June.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition's physical Switch 2 version is set to release on July 30, with the digital version already available. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition will launch digitally on July 30 and physically on October 1. The digital and physical versions of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 Edition are slated for release on December 9. Each standalone game is priced at $70.
For players who already own the original Nintendo Switch versions, an upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition is available for $10 per title via the Nintendo eShop. All three Switch 2 editions include the full game data on the cartridge and boast visual and performance enhancements, leveraging the Switch 2's hardware capabilities for 60 frames per second and 4K resolution in docked mode, or 1080p in handheld mode.
Specific new content for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition includes new vehicle mounts, equipment designs, and fully-voiced Heart-to-Heart cutscenes. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 introduces the ability to control Blades during Mercenary Squad Battles, a new rare Blade and Blade quest, and new equipment designs for Pyra and Mythra. This edition also includes Torna: The Golden Country for those who purchased the original Expansion Pass.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3's Switch 2 Edition features new wave-based defensive battle content, a new playable Hero and accompanying quests, and new fully-voiced cutscenes. Physical versions of these titles can be preordered from retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop.
Additionally, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition also received a Switch 2 version earlier this year, priced at $65 for physical copies. While it shares similar visual and performance specifications, the Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition experienced some texture and resolution upscaling issues in 4K docked or handheld modes, though 1080p on TV largely mitigates this. It is unclear if these issues will be resolved through a future patch. The mainline Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy's Switch 2 editions are not reported to have these specific issues.
According to GameSpot, preorder details for each title are currently available.
