Angers Seeks to Retain On-Loan Goalkeeper Hervé Koffi from RC Lens
SCO Angers is reportedly looking to secure the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Hervé Koffi, who had an impressive loan spell from RC Lens last season. The 29-year-old Burkina Faso international excelled, with one report stating he recorded the best post-shot-expected-goals figure among goalkeepers in Europe's top five leagues. However, RC Lens has set a €4.5 million price tag for Koffi, a significant sum for the financially constrained Angers. The club is also considering Anthony Lopes, a free agent, as an alternative option.
SCO Angers is reportedly attempting to retain goalkeeper Hervé Koffi, who spent last season on loan from RC Lens. The 29-year-old Burkina Faso international is sought after following a strong performance during his loan spell.
Koffi's individual statistics from the previous season were notable, with reports indicating he achieved the best post-shot-expected-goals figure among all goalkeepers across Europe's top five leagues.
His loan to Angers followed the arrival of Robin Risser at RC Lens from RC Strasbourg Alsace. Risser had a successful season with Lens, contributing to their second-place finish in Ligue 1 and a Coupe de France trophy. His performances also led to his inclusion in France’s FIFA World Cup squad.
Despite Angers' desire to keep Koffi, the club faces a challenge due to the €4.5 million price tag set by RC Lens. This sum is considered substantial for Angers, which is described as cash-strapped. The club is also exploring other options, including Anthony Lopes, who is currently a free agent after departing FC Nantes.
