Anya Taylor-Joy Joins 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum' Cast as Elf Seren
Anya Taylor-Joy has been announced as a new cast member for "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum." She will portray Seren, described as a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm and a trusted agent of King Thranduil. The film, a prequel set between "The Hobbit" and "The Fellowship of the Ring," is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027, featuring both new and returning Middle-earth actors.

Anya Taylor-Joy has joined the cast of "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum." Warner Bros. confirmed her role as a new character named Seren, an elf.
The press release for the film describes Seren as "a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm" and "a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil," a role played by Lee Pace.
Taylor-Joy will appear alongside Andy Serkis, who is also directing the film and reprises his role as Smeagol/Gollum. Other confirmed cast members include Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins. Jamie Dornan is set to play a younger Strider, Kate Winslet will portray Marigol, and Lee Pace returns as Thranduil.
"The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" was announced in 2024 as a prequel exploring events between "The Hobbit" and "The Fellowship of the Ring." The screenplay was written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou. Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are also producing, alongside Zane Weiner, Ken Kamins, Jonathan Cavendish, and Andy Serkis. Original "Lord of the Rings" trilogy director Peter Jackson is also a producer for the film.
The film is set to premiere on December 17, 2027.
