Atlus Officially Announces Persona 6, Reveals Green Theme and Multi-Platform Launch

Atlus officially confirmed the existence of Persona 6 on June 7, 2026, during an Xbox Games Showcase. The announcement, which included a short teaser, coincided with the series' 30th anniversary. This marks the first entirely new mainline release in the Persona series since Persona 5, which launched in Japan in 2016 and North America in 2017.

Persona 6 will introduce a new location and a fresh cast of characters, with no direct connections to previous games. The game adopts a 'green' theme, a concept that was previously speculated through leaks and anniversary visuals, and has now been confirmed by the reveal teaser featuring green ectoplasm and graveyard imagery.

An official Xbox listing describes the game's core concept: "Live a Double Life in Modern-Day Japan. Navigate the rhythms of everyday school life and build friendships, pursue romance, and cultivate memories that matter. But beneath the surface of familiar streets and quiet neighborhoods lies something darker: strange rumors, unsettling urban legends, and occult incidents that only you and your closest allies can face."

Persona 6 is confirmed to be playable on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. The game's reveal at an Xbox Showcase highlights a shift from the series' past PlayStation exclusivity, with Persona 6 slated to be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. While there is no current confirmation for a Switch 2 release, it is noted that other Atlus titles, such as Metaphor, have received later editions on Nintendo consoles.
