Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access Confirmed for October 16
Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will offer campaign early access starting October 16, one week ahead of the game's global release on October 23. Players can gain access by pre-ordering either the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition of the game. This marks a return of the early access feature for the franchise, which was last seen with 2023's Modern Warfare 3.

Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature campaign early access, commencing on October 16. This allows players to experience the campaign a full week before the game's official global launch on Friday, October 23.
To participate in the campaign early access, players must pre-order or pre-purchase the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. This early access opportunity is available on platforms including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, and Steam. Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition will become available later in the year.
Modern Warfare 4 is the first Call of Duty title to include campaign early access since 2023's Modern Warfare 3. The 2024 and 2025 Black Ops installments did not offer this feature. The game's development is led by Infinity Ward.
Regarding subscription services, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will not be a day one launch on Game Pass. New Call of Duty games will be added to the service at a later date, requiring players to purchase the game directly to play at release or during the early access period.
The Modern Warfare 4 campaign will feature two primary storylines. One follows Private Park, a young South Korean soldier engaged in combat during a full-scale North Korean invasion. The other tracks operator-turned-outlaw Captain Price, who operates outside conventional systems on a quest for revenge, becoming entangled in a larger conflict. The campaign is designed to deliver grounded combat and gameplay variety through large-scale battles, covert operations, combined-arms warfare, and cinematic sequences.
