New Orleans-based hip-hop labels No Limit Records and Cash Money Records are set to embark on their inaugural joint U.S. arena tour. The 17-date concert series, featuring artists from both labels, was announced on Monday, June 15.
The tour is scheduled to begin on September 11 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. It will make a stop in New Orleans on September 12 at the Smoothie King Center and visit cities such as Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Washington, D.C., and Chicago. The tour, subtitled “Two Empires. One Stage. One Time,” will conclude on November 15 at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
The roster of performers includes label heads Master P and Birdman, alongside Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, Silkk the Shocker, B.G., Mia X, Mac, Fiend, Mercedes, Choppa, Mr. Serv-On, and special guests the Ying Yang Twins. It was noted that Lil Boosie will not be performing at the Indianapolis and Dallas stops.
Both labels have played a significant role in elevating Southern hip-hop. Cash Money Records, founded in New Orleans in 1991 by brothers Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Baby” Williams, achieved commercial success in the 1990s with artists like B.G., Lil Wayne, and Juvenile, accumulating 12 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and seven No. 1 singles. The joint tour follows a Verzuz battle between the two labels held last October at ComplexCon in Las Vegas.
Presale tickets were scheduled to be available from Wednesday, June 17, at 10 a.m. ET through Thursday, June 18, at 11:59 p.m. ET. General ticket sales began on Friday, June 19, at 10 a.m. ET. Master P stated that fans have long awaited such a tour, emphasizing the labels' impact on music and hip-hop culture.
According to Billboard, Master P announced the tour via Instagram, calling it “EPIC.”
