Brooklyn rapper Fabolous has teased a New York Knicks-themed remix of Yung Miami's track "Spend Dat." The snippet, shared on Saturday, incorporates the Knicks' starting five players and pays tribute to each of New York's five boroughs.
The concept for a Knicks-themed version of "Spend Dat" initially came from artist and content creator Lowkey Mar. Mar's fan-made flip of the song, which altered Yung Miami's chorus, gained significant attention among Knicks fans and was widely shared online. Yung Miami's original "Spend Dat" is currently charting at No. 47 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Fabolous's verse for this "Spend Dat" (Knicksmix) reportedly integrates the names of Knicks starters Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns. He also includes lyrical references to Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten, and Queens. The remix snippet was released as the Knicks prepared for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on the road in San Antonio, following a historic playoff run that culminated in their first championship in 53 years.
The timing of the tease aligns with the Knicks' championship parade, which is anticipated for Thursday, June 18. It is currently unconfirmed if this new version of the track will be released on streaming platforms in time for the celebration.
