Separately, Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court, seeking a stay on the film's promotion, release, and distribution, citing unlawful use of his personality rights and a misleading narrative. The court has issued a notice to the filmmakers.

Namdev stated in an interview that he believed he was participating in a film titled "Sambhal," which he understood would focus solely on courtroom proceedings related to Salman Khan's blackbuck case. He claimed to be surprised by the "Kala Hiran" teaser, asserting the final product differed significantly from what was explained. Namdev also indicated he would not knowingly participate in a project targeting Salman Khan, whom he considers a friend.
Producer Amit Jani disputed Namdev's account, stating the actor had not only signed for "Kala Hiran" but had also agreed to be associated with its proposed sequel. Jani announced on social media that legal action had been initiated, warning of further proceedings if the demands for an apology and compensation are not met.
Separately, the controversy surrounding "Kala Hiran" extends to allegations that it closely resembles real-life events connected to Salman Khan and the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court, seeking an immediate stay on the film's promotion, release, and distribution.
Khan's legal team argues that the film unlawfully uses his personality and publicity rights for commercial gain. They contend that promotional materials present a misleading and defamatory narrative, pointing to posters depicting a character resembling Khan holding a firearm, despite his acquittal in an Arms Act case. His lawyers also argue that any cinematic portrayal of matters still under legal consideration could influence public perception regarding ongoing proceedings related to the blackbuck case. The Delhi High Court has issued a formal notice to the filmmakers and sought their response.
