Google Photos Developing AI-Powered Video Remix Feature
Google Photos is reportedly working on a new artificial intelligence tool, internally codenamed "Soba," which is expected to be released as "Video remix." This feature aims to enable users to restyle videos, adjust lighting, and potentially swap backgrounds, similar to existing AI capabilities for photos within the application. The development was identified through new text strings found in a recent update to Google Photos for Android.

Google Photos is reportedly developing an AI-powered video tool, currently known by the codename "Soba." This new feature is anticipated to launch as "Video remix," offering users enhanced video editing capabilities.
The upcoming tool is expected to allow for video restyling, changes to lighting, and other adjustments. It is believed that users might also be able to perform background swaps within their videos, mirroring some of the AI features already available for still images.
This development follows the introduction of AI tools such as "Photo to video" and "photo remix" in Google Photos last year. The new video remix functionality appears to extend these AI-driven editing options to video content.
Details about the feature emerged from new text strings identified in version 7.80.0.929302933 of Google Photos for Android.
According to Android Authority, the "Soba" project, previously a mysterious work-in-progress, is now understood to be a video remix feature, though its public debut date remains unconfirmed.
