Hong Kong Police Arrest 150 in HK$320 Million Illegal Online Betting Syndicate Bust
Hong Kong police have arrested 150 individuals during a three-day crackdown on an illegal online bookmaking syndicate. The operation targeted a network that handled more than HK$320 million (US$40.8 million) in wagers across various districts. Authorities issued a warning against unlawful betting activities, specifically referencing the ongoing Fifa World Cup.

Hong Kong police have concluded a three-day operation, leading to the arrest of 150 people suspected of involvement in an illegal online betting syndicate. The syndicate is reported to have processed wagers exceeding HK$320 million (US$40.8 million).
Approximately 600 officers participated in raids conducted between Friday and Sunday. These operations targeted various factory units located in Kwai Chung, Tsing Yi, Sha Tin, Kwun Tong, and Kowloon City, as stated by the organised crime and triad bureau.
The crackdown also involved the closure of four previously undisclosed operations. Police officials used the opportunity to issue a public warning, cautioning residents against engaging in unlawful betting, particularly in light of the Fifa World Cup.
According to the South China Morning Post, the bureau's statement regarding the operation was made on Tuesday.
