Hong Kong Science Park and SenseTime Partner to Build Local AI Data Centre
The Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) has announced a collaboration with SenseTime, a Chinese artificial intelligence firm based in the city, to construct a home-grown AI data centre. This project aims to support the industrialisation of the AI sector in Hong Kong, with a target completion by 2030. The data centre will be developed in three stages, with the first phase anticipated to be completed by the end of this year.

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) and SenseTime, an artificial intelligence firm headquartered and listed in the city, have partnered to establish a home-grown AI data centre. This initiative is designed to bolster the industrialisation of the AI sector in Hong Kong.
The planned data centre is scheduled for completion by 2030 and will be constructed in three distinct stages. The initial phase of this development is expected to be finalized by the close of the current year.
Upon its full realization, the data centre is projected to achieve a computing capacity of 40,000 petaflops by 2030. Petaflops are a measurement of computing power specifically utilized for training artificial intelligence models.
