Iran Warns Israeli Strike in Beirut Could Jeopardize U.S.-Iran Deal
A drone strike by Hezbollah on northern Israel on Sunday led to Israeli retaliatory strikes against Hezbollah targets in Beirut. This escalation, which reportedly killed one person and wounded four, occurred hours before a scheduled U.S.-Iran agreement signing. Iranian officials have since indicated that the Israeli action might undermine the prospective deal between the United States and Iran.

Hezbollah launched several drones at northern Israel on Sunday morning, initiating a chain of events. Hours later, Israel conducted strikes on a Hezbollah command center in Beirut, as confirmed by the IDF.
Israeli officials stated that the target of their strikes was Hezbollah's military telecommunications chief. These strikes reportedly resulted in the death of at least one person and injuries to four others.
Prior to the Beirut strike, the Israeli military informed the U.S. Central Command, according to both Israeli and U.S. officials. It remains unclear whether the White House provided approval for the operation.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's chief negotiator and speaker of parliament, signaled that the Israeli strike in Beirut could undermine the U.S.–Iran deal. Ghalibaf stated, "The Zionist aggression on Dahieh has once again shown that America either does not have the will or the ability to fulfill its obligations. You cannot gain concessions by giving the regime [Israel] a green light. The good cop, bad cop routine has become old. If you do not have the will or the ability to fulfill your commitments, then there is no basis for talking about continuing down this path."
General Mohammed Jafar Asadi, the deputy commander of the Iranian armed forces' emergency headquarters, also commented, stating that the Israeli attack on Beirut "will not go unanswered." In response to the developments, the IDF chief of staff informed northern commanders that Israel is prepared for potential escalations on various fronts.
According to Axios, a similar strike last week resulted in Iran launching missiles at Israel, leading to a day of increased tensions between the two countries.
