Kylian Mbappe Praises Ibrahima Konate Ahead of Real Madrid Move

Real Madrid has reached an agreement to sign defender Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool. Konate, a French international, is set to join the Spanish club on a contract that runs until 2030. His official arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu is anticipated after he concludes his commitments with the French national team in the upcoming World Cup.

Kylian Mbappe, a Real Madrid forward and Konate’s international teammate, has shared his positive assessment of the defender. Speaking to L’Equipe, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Mbappe described Konate as a complete defender in European football.

Mbappe specifically lauded Konate’s physical strength, dominance in duels, and ability to defend large spaces. He noted Konate's reputation as a formidable opponent for attackers. "He’s a very aggressive defender, in the best sense of the word. He never makes a bad move, he’s tough in the tackle," Mbappe stated. "He wants his man to feel he’s in for a rough night. I love defenders like him in my team."

Mbappe further emphasized Konate's attributes, adding, "They’ve got grit, they’re tactically flexible because they’re capable of closing down their man as well as holding their own in one-on-one situations, winning duels and being tactically disciplined."

Konate's transfer marks a further step in Real Madrid’s defensive restructuring, joining a center-back group that includes Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, Raul Asencio, and Dean Huijsen.
