Liverpool Plans Urgent Contract for Rio Ngumoha Following Bayern Munich Interest

Liverpool is reportedly preparing to fast-track a new contract for 17-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha, driven by significant interest from Bayern Munich. The English club aims to secure Ngumoha's future as soon as he turns 18 in August.

Ngumoha currently has two years remaining on a three-year professional deal he signed after his 17th birthday, which was the maximum duration permitted for his age. Reports indicate that Liverpool's management plans to offer an extended contract shortly after his upcoming 18th birthday to ward off interest from other top clubs.

Bayern Munich's reported interest has prompted Liverpool's urgency. While no agreement existed between the clubs, reports suggested Ngumoha had indicated a willingness to move to the Bundesliga giants. Liverpool executives were reportedly surprised by these developments, particularly the suggestion of personal terms being agreed upon.

Within Liverpool, Ngumoha has previously found himself behind players like Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz in the squad's pecking order under former coach Arne Slot. Despite impressive cameos, including goals against Newcastle and Fulham, he often returned to the bench. The club reportedly sold Luis Diaz last summer with the aim of creating a clearer pathway for Ngumoha's development into a first-team player, but Slot continued to rely on Gakpo.
