Roma and France midfielder Manu Koné has indicated that discussions regarding his future at the Stadio Olimpico will take place following the conclusion of the World Cup. Koné has recently been subject to transfer speculation, with reports linking him to Italian club Inter and English club Arsenal.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Koné asserted his complete focus on the World Cup, describing it as his first major international tournament and a long-held dream. He stated his intention to remain exclusively concentrated on the competition before addressing his future.
Inter has reportedly been pursuing Koné for some time, with attempts to sign him last summer. French newspaper L’Equipe also connected the midfielder to Arsenal in a recent report.
Koné expressed his goal to always be prepared for his coach and team. He noted his significant playing time during qualification but acknowledged the depth of talent within the squad, hoping to contribute as much as possible. The midfielder, described as a regular starter under Gian Piero Gasperini and playing a key role in Roma’s return to the Champions League for the first time since 2018, also revealed he experienced two hamstring problems during the 2026-27 campaign. These issues led to concerns about missing the World Cup, though he ultimately recovered.
Regarding France teammate Kylian Mbappé, Koné dismissed the idea that Mbappé might feel more pressure, highlighting the Real Madrid player's consistent performance in crucial moments for both club and country. Koné expressed full confidence in Mbappé, calling him their captain and anticipating great contributions.
