Mark Hamill Joins 'Twisted Metal' TV Show for Third Season
Legendary actor Mark Hamill has joined the cast of Peacock's "Twisted Metal" TV series for its upcoming third season. Hamill will portray Pope Charlie Kane, identified as the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty and the father of the character Sweet Tooth. The series, which is based on the PlayStation game, has been a significant success for the Peacock platform. Mark Hamill, renowned for his role in "Star Wars," has joined the cast of Peacock's "Twisted Metal" TV show for its third season. Hamill is slated to play Pope Charlie Kane, a character described as the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty and the father of Sweet Tooth.
Sweet Tooth is physically portrayed by Joe Seanoa, known as Samoa Joe, with Will Arnett providing the character's voice. The series also stars Anthony Mackie as John Doe and Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet. Other recent cast additions include Anthony Carrigan as Calypso and Tiana Okoye as Dollface, both joining in Season 2.
"Twisted Metal," an adaptation of the PlayStation game, has achieved success on Peacock, becoming the platform's second highest-reaching original returning scripted show. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick serve as executive producers for the series. For Season 3, David Reed has taken over as showrunner, replacing Michael Jonathan Smith, who led Seasons 1 and 2. A release date for the third season has not yet been announced.
Anthony Mackie, who also serves as an executive producer for "Twisted Metal," expressed his admiration for Hamill, calling him "a true legend who’s influenced generations of actors." The show is partly produced by PlayStation Productions, a division dedicated to adapting PlayStation games for film and television. Future projects from this unit include movies based on "Helldivers," "Horizon," "Days Gone," "Bloodborne," and "Ghost of Tsushima," alongside TV shows for "The Last of Us" and "God of War."
