Marvell Outlines Vision for Optically Interconnected Data Centers
Marvell has detailed its vision for future data centers, which will be optically interconnected and designed to span across thousands of kilometers. The company plans for these new interconnects, set to begin sampling later this year, to allow Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to efficiently pool their resources based on specific workload demands. Marvell states it already possesses the necessary hardware to construct these advanced systems.

Marvell has presented its strategic vision for the development of optically interconnected data centers. This concept aims to establish connections between data center facilities over expansive distances, potentially spanning thousands of kilometers.
A key objective of this initiative is to enhance the resource management capabilities of Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). The proposed interconnects are designed to facilitate the pooling of resources, allowing CSPs to dynamically allocate them based on current workload requirements.
According to Marvell, the company currently possesses the hardware necessary to implement this advanced networking architecture. New interconnect solutions supporting this optical vision are anticipated to begin sampling later in the current year.
